  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition - very minor loss of black paint on edge (see photo #2), one pleat has small separation (see last photo) and one area is a little rough, but no paint loss (see photo #10).

    This is a wonderful and Rare Large Vintage Chinese Wall Fan with Six
    Cranes
    Hand Painted on a
    Silver
    Background - which is unusual.  There is a description in Hanzi Characters and the Artist's Chop Mark on the front and strings to hang it with on the back.
    'The crane is the most popular bird in Chinese history and is a symbol of longevity and auspiciousness. In ancient China the crane was regarded as having a long life span and one Chinese legend says that a immortal rode a crane to heaven. The crane also represents a lasting soaring spirit, health, and happiness.'
    'The number six usually means fluidity -- blessings and it is good for business...in Chinese culture it is a lucky number.'
    It is 60" wide by 34 3/4" high and weighs 1 pound 10.5 ounces.
