Brooch Pin is quite unusual and reminiscent of a Czech design.
Testing
:
The metal arch, filigr
ee & caps tested 10k for gold us
ing a gold testing acid kit.
When the celluloid is rubbed vigorously with fingers there is a slight smell of vinegar. So this tells me that this piece was made between 1927-1940s. (the celluloid mixture changed from camphor to vinegar in 1927).
I also tested this piece for Bakelite using Simichrome, but it was negative.
Research
: I have stated that this piece is RARE and UNUSUAL because I have performed extensive research to find a similar brooch, but to no avail.

Description
:
~The
arch
is clear with
milky swirls
and has a beautiful gold ornamental piece on top which flows downward.
Each end of the arch is ornately capped with gold filigree & ball dangles. All of this is connected to a gold metal arch on the back.
~The large ornate
tear-drop
is opaque and hangs in the center of the arch. There are two lovely pieces of gold filigree attached to the tear-drop by a gold cap on top.
Mid-way down the tear-drop is a twisted gold fine wire around a cut-out area.
Lastly
, attached to the bottom of the tear-drop is
a
gold filigree cap with a dangle.
* Condition: The condition is excellent except for the misshapen
filigree ball hanging on the left side of the arch.
* Closure: C-Clasp w/ Long Pin
(no issues - works great)
* Arch: 1 3/4"
* Tear Drop: 5/8" Width X 1 3/4" Length
